Default 96 Ex with aftermarket Fogs

I recently bought a 96 Ex that had aftermarket ebay fog lights on it and he hardwired into the taillight fuse..well the fuse keeps blowing and the wiring is horrible onit...i was wondering how hard it is to wire it into its own fuse yet have them still come on with the headlights...or do the 99-2000 Si have their own foglight switch? Thanks

If there's no factory fog light wiring, simplest way to do this is to start at the battery, install an in-line fuse near the battery, then send the power through a new relay under the hood to the fog lights. Wire the coil of the relay in parallel with the stock headlight circuit (low beam) so when you turn the lights on, the relay will pull in and send power to the fog lights through your new wire and fuse from the battery.

Yes go to one of the headlights and splice into the low beam wire and the common wire, route those to the coil of the relay.

If you like the fog lights that are on the car now, no need to replace, just rewire for them.

I wouldn't splice into the low beams. I did, and the fogs served no purpose at all... I am guessing there wasn't enough power being sent to the low beams to power the beams and fogs.

Once I took the fog wiring out of the low beams and pulled extra power from the batterry directly, the fogs were about 3 times brighter and actually made a difference.

The splice into the low beams is just to turn the relay on-- the fogs get power from the battery through the relay. Thus the car's stock wiring is not overloaded as it takes only about 0.1 A to turn on a relay.
