Default '97 Civic - moaning and shuddering

Yes these are the symptoms, when driving there is a kind of a droning low-pitched moan. It is less pronounced when turning. The second thing is a very slight hesitation when between stepping on the gas and the forward motion. Last night I noticed when trying to get going on a hill the hesitation followed by a shudder before getting going.

From what I have read so far it could be a number of things from the CV joints to bearings to who knows what. Anyone who has a little wisdom on this - I'd love to hear it.

I think that hesitation is sometimes caused by a problem with the ignition system. How are your plugs and wires?

They look fine to me - but my experience is limited in this stuff. I am kind of looking for direction on the type of place I should take it as well, transmission shop, engine guy or what?

I would say check plugs and wires. If they are bad enough then it will seem like it might be a bad cv or something. Look at the wires for corrosion in the two ends or just dry rot in the rubber. The spark plugs just look at them and make sure they look in good shape. Sometimes they can look good but be bad internally. If you do need to replace spark plugs I recomend replacing the wires with them every time. Not required but my preferance

check for rips or tears in the cv boots. and also look if grease is on your wheel or around the cv boots

Would the plugs/wires be resposible for a small stutter or hesitation when the auto trans shifts from 1st to second though? I don't think I mentioned that. Also, when driving forward, the noise stops when I turn to the right, but continues when I turn to the left.
