what would cause the engine cooling fan not to come on until the gage reaches 3/4 of the way to HOT? when it reads 3/4 hot, the fan kicks on as it did when it ran at half way normal mark. i checked the relay and it works since the fan powers on. would the engine coolent temp sensor cause it to not come on like normal?

 

could be the thermo stat or the fan temp switch
