97 EX Starting Problem
Just recently I started having a problem starting my 97 EX that has 190,000 miles on it. The problem is that when I try to start the car the first time it will die (both cold and hot). I turn the key off and do the restart procedure again. Usually, this time the car starts. If it doesn't start, I do the restart procedure again and then it starts. After it starts the engine run flawlessly and nothing else seems to be a problem. I suspected it to be a fuel pressure problem and that the fuel pressure regulator was defective. However, after checking the fuel pressure with the engine running it was a nominal 43 psi with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged. When I reconnected the vacuum line the pressure dropped to a nominal 33 psi just as the manual requires. I have no error codes showing from the ECM. Now that everything checks out, I don't know where to look next. Has any one else had this problem and what was the cause and correction?
