98 civic heater control cable
I have recently been putting some work into civic to get it sold. Heat has not been working. Searched all these forums and more. Nothing worked. Well I had the dash taken off to install a new radio head unit and started playing with the heater slider(?) and i noticed there is not a cable attached to it. I have found where it goes but no cable. Any suggestions or help on finding cable or what it looks like would be appreciated! thanks

The cable goes to a mechanism on the bottom of the heater box which is right in the center of the car under the dash. If you put your head down in the floorboards near the gas pedal you should see it. When the dash lever is pushed toward "hot", the cable moves a lever which pushes on a rod to the right side which moves a door to direct air through the heater core instead of bypassing it. The mechanism on the bottom of the heater box also works another cable that goes through the firewall to open the water valve under the hood to let hot coolant flow through the heater core.

The link from the control panel to the heater box is a standard black plastic push-pull cable with a wire inside. If it's completely missing out of your car, go to a junkyard and look at some of the cars there.
