Default ABS not working

i had a close call with a focus earlier and after all the screaching had stopped i realised my abs aint working. has any1 had any problems with it before and where shud i start looking? should my abs light be on all the time? thanks

Exactly what makes you think that the ABS isn't working? The ABS will not engage unless your brakes are locking up. The ABS light should turn on for a sec or two after the car is started but should turn off. If the ABS light is always on, that indicates a problem.

well i knew my abs was screwed but im in a different situation here.. my abs light comes on and off... but the abs module up front makes a loud electrical noise

^^Mine used to do that right before it stopped working, In reply to the first question. Its probably just a dodgy sensor so it shuts it down and therefore the light stays on, just get the haynes manual out and bridge the correct terminal in the passenger footwell to determine the fault.

if abs lite is on,, system will not work,, you need to read the code and diagnose it
also input year and model

were you going around a corner when you had your mishap!?
check the abs light is coming on (and then cancelling) when you turn the ignition on

id jus *** round a corner then came up to a roundabout a bit to quick and sum1 cam flying round the roundabout from the right. i had the same thing happen aswel with my abs module but it only happened when it was wet......
