Question Acceleration Problem

ok guys so here's the problem, i'm going down the highway at ~65-70MPH and i need to pass a car, so I have it in 5th gear and don't need to bring it to 4th gear for more acceleration, so i just press on the gas pedal slowly to gain more speed, and the car doesn't accelerate, it just stays at the same speed, what do you guys think it is? cause then i let go of the pedal and pressed it again and it speed sluggishly. it had about 2,500RM when i had it in 5th gear. and it also accelerates sluggish and slowly when shifting from lower gears and up. any ideas? I'm thinking it might be the fuel filter or fuel injectors...

Try downshifting... it's a civic - it's got no torque.

How old are the plugs, wire, cap, and rotor? Have you checked the ignition timing with a timing gun? Any CEL codes?

Clogged air filter or wrong timing will do that. If it were a fuel or ignition problem, it would miss and sputter rather than just go slow. But like the others said, you just don't get much power at 2500 rpm. Downshift it.

Do not expect the engine to run properly while the CEL is on. Take care of that first.

You may be able to get a free rental on an inductive timing gun from an auto parts store. Just call around to find out.

Post the specific CEL code(s) that is thrown.

It's best to go with OEM plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
