Default Airbag Alert Sign

Hello,

I own a 2006 Honda Civic. The airbag alert sign comes ON sometimes ( yes , it is not on all the time) and I am not sure why. Turning the car off and back on usually clears the problem, but sometimes it needs a couple of restarts.

My first question is if the sign is on, will the airbag deploy in case of an accident.

And the other question is how to deal with this problem once and for all.

Thanks.

Like the engine computer, the air bag computer has a memory which should remember the reason that caused the light to come on. You will probably need to go to a dealer, as independent shops seldom have the equipment to read the computer.

The air bags may or may not work while the light is on, depending on what the problem is.
