alternator for d15b vtec!
i need you guys help so bad, i have a d15b Vtec in my civic and i cannot get an alternator for it... i need a parts number or something i cant tell the dude at Napa that it is, the reason is I'm having my bro do it at work but i need it done in one day and not wait for the alternator on Monday to arrive, so i need them to order it first...
the d15b is the black top one, i think its been converted to odb1 so it may have originally been obd0 but are they interchangeable?
what I'm saying is i cannot take the alternator out and take it in, i need the alternator first... thanks

You need it to match your harness and ECU, the engine block doesn't matter. But I think they all interchange. See if the stock '91 calls for the same part as the stock '92. If different you could buy both and return the one you don't use, NAPA is usually pretty good about that.
p75 ecu from a ls.... i had thread earlier back for tryin to figure out what ECu i had its here
but does that change what alternator i use? and what one!

I have the JDM d15b engine and I have been trying to figure this same issue out. I havent been able to pull my alternator out yet due to environment and tools.. but I have a p28 ECU , is there a way to figure out what I need. I have this jdm engine dropped in a 92' civic hatchback. have you figured out this problem? I just need to know whether I should get the stock alternator for the 92 civic bodystyle or the D15b engine that sais its a 96- 2000 engine for a honda civic.. IDK!!!!!!!!
totally figured it out, the 89 takes a 60 amp and the d15b takes the 70 amp, the belts are different but you can still use the 60 amp... thats what mine had in it the original owner took the alternator off the old motor. but go into a parts store and ask for a 92 1.5l vtec honda civic 70 amp alternator and its a 4 prong connector and it will work..... much luck to ya....
