Default another timing belt question

What is the average price of a timing belt change? I want to make sure I am not getting totally ripped. I have to take it to a dealership to get it changed, they are saying $489.00 for my 97 Civic. Is that worth it? Is the 97 civic going to last me for at least 2-3 more years?

sounds right. I was quoted $560, but that included the water pump too. I just did it myself.

$500-700 is going to be the going rate. That job is slated for ~ 5 hours; and at ~ $80/hr shop charge + parts... well, you do the math.

Or, for example, I did my own timing belt, water pump, and head gasket myself a few weeks ago for a grand total of $125.
