Anybody painted their pillars inside the car (96) (how to take pieces off?)
Has anyone painted the plastics covering their a,b, and c pillars?
My 96 HX is all black, except for those pillars, which look like a cheap gray plastic. I painted the plastics inside my Jeep w/ Flat Black Krylon Fusion paint, and its held up and looks great - love to do the same w/ the Civic.
My main question is:
Is there a way to take these plastic covers off (details)? I've looked around and can see it as a possibility, but if anybody has details it would help make the job a lot easier (or at least let me know what I'm getting into before I start tearing off pieces of the Civic).
Thanks!

im not sure if its the same as the 00 civics, but the pillers and just held in by metal clips in the back of it, i just pulled forward till they unclip, the at the top of the piller it goes behind another plastic piece, so you have to slide it forward to that part pops out, then you can take it out...BTW, dont expect it to go back in properly, mine fits it good, but im not able to get all the clips to clip back in
Thanks mill$civic,
So does it look sloppy though, like it was taken apart and not put together tight? Or pretty much not noticeable?
My other option is to just mask off everything around the pieces and spray...

take it off..it dosent look sloppy at all, i have tooking mine out twice and fiberglassed a pod piller to one of them, and they fit perfectly back it
+1 for Mill$civic! I currently have most of my HX apart, including door panels, the whole underdash parts, and rear interior quarterpanels, and I was doing the same thing snosurfa7. Gotta agree...DO NOT mask and paint, just take 'em out. If you save the clips, it isn't difficult at all to just clip them back in afterwards. You just gotta be careful not to scratch them hookin' them back into where the dash meets the pillar. They clip in just as tight as they were before removing them. It'll look good, trust me!!! Question though...You got pics of the jeep? I did my HX in the Fusion gloss black cuz I wanted that "flashy" look to it. Now I'm tired of it. I just want to see how the flat black looks so I can see if I want to do that instead.
Thanks for the advice - Yeah, I'm definitely just going to pull the car apart instead of mask and tape.
Skytanker 2003 - Sorry, I got my Civic and Jeep mixed up...I actually did the Jeep in gloss black too - it's been 3 years, and its my civic I want to do in flat black - I think it might go better w/ the black around the gauges and radio.
As for the rear pillars - were these a pain to get off? The front ones came off real easy for me, I see that I have to unbolt the seat belt to get the rears off - but I really don't want to take apart every other panel in the car. I will if I have to - but its nice to know what I'm getting myself into...

I guess I'm supposed to insert the addage...You get out of it what effort you put into it! Basically, you're gonna have to take off all the panels if you wanna do it right, including the rear panel where the rear 6x9 speakers are, the rear quarterpanel pieces, and the front pillars. The rear panel turned out BEAUTIFUL for me, as did the front pillars, but I didn't have/ haven't had time to get to the big back quarterpanels. And I even removed the dashboard from the car to paint that but it reflects up into the windshield so bad that I NEED to get the flat black on it!!! Honestly, it'll be best to take everything out. It might be easier to work one side before the other too! Like starting from the pax side front pillar, working back and wrapping around to the driver's side. But it seems like you have a bit of experience with the interior stuff, so I'm not gonna go preachin' to ya!
Good luck and have fun! PM me if ya get caught on somethin'!
