Default Auto Transmission Hard shift low power

91 Civic DX 1.5 Automatic 134,000. Taking off it seems to have decent power. When it shifts to the next gear it hesitates (rev longer than should) for a sec thenjerks forwardinto gear. This happens in each gear but gradually less as gears increase. It seems to have terrible staying power when going up inclines, loses speed pretty fast, really almost embarrasing, it then has to downshift. Is this a (microslipping of the tranny while going up incline). Also when coming to a stop it downshifts hard with the same jerk/thump as the acceleration problem. The fluid level is good, no leaks, and doesnt smell or look burned. Any experience with this type of problem? Any adjustments that might need to be checked?

ok this is what i would do.... pop the hood, look at the tranny right under the distributor, you'll see a little syolinoid.... take it off and clean it out, see that happens, that same thing happend to my 96 accord (daily driver) and this fixed it.... good luck

Pulled the selenoid, the screen looked good, cleaned it up. Still does the same. If it wasnt working at all would it cause these symptoms? What is the purpose of it anyway? Anyone else have a suggestion. Other than replace tranny.
