Beeping when door open, alarm system?
Hey folks-
I recently removed an old, annoying viper alarm system from my 99 ex. Whenever you open the door, the "hey you left your keys in the car" chime beeps even if there are no keys left in the ignition. After I removed all the components of the alarm system the chime still went off... Any ideas?
THe car also has an aftermarket stereo in it as well. Could that have something to do with this?
Thanks in advance-
K

did you start to have this problem only after you took out the alarm?
is it a solid beep or a series of 4 or 5 short beeps repeated?
are any of you parking lights or headlights on? (not necessarily the switch, just any of the lights)

it could be going off because they rewired the door chime sensors.
see on the civic the drivers sensor is wired different than the passenger door sensor. so they probably wired them together.

Its been doign this since I got the car, so while the alarm was in too. Its the four quick beeps, which I assume means "you left your keys in the ignition." It goes off any time I open the driver's door (not the passenger's), whether or not the keys are in it, lights are on or whatever. THe problem with it is if I leave my lights on I only hear the stupid "get your keys" alarm and ignore it, so the battery dies.
