Best thing to fix this???
I have recently changed my clituch on my car and when i was trying to get my driver side axle back into the tranny i hit the cv boot with a rubber mallet a few times and then i realized that i had put a small gash in the boot. So now the grease is slowly comin out and whe i drive it throws grease all over my engine bay and rims. I tried some household cement but that didny hold nos does tape, so can anyone suggest a fix for this besides buying a new boot, like what glue holds the best on a rubber boot that constantly strecthes and bends and gets pretty warm????? thanks
yeah i normally use my hands as well but i had the gears lined up and it wouldnt go in soi had tp tap on it with a mallet to get it to slip into place, my stupid misatke but so i will try the sealent and if that doesnt work then ill try to superglue or something then ill have to change the boot, btw does anyone know how to take apart your drivers side axle to replace the boot cause i am not gonna use a split boot. thanks for the replies.
I think you are talking about tranny side of axle (it does not make sense otherwise, is it?), and this side just slides out of axle as soon as you remove the boot, so you should be OK with it
