Brake Pedal Noise in 07 Civic Hybrid
Since day one I hear a noise coming from my brake pedal on braking. It's not all the time so the dealership hasnt experienced it. It's not ABS noise. It happens when normal braking. Sounds like gas (fart) coming from brake pedal. Anyone experience this?

RE: Brake Pedal Noise in 07 Civic Hybrid
it's the power booster. it uses vaccuum to apply more braking than your leg could possibly apply. when you press on the pedal, vaccuum assists by pulling on a diaphram that in turn pushes in the linkage on the master cylinder. when you begin to release the pedal, there's a one way port that takes air in from the cabin (through the firewall) so that the brakes can be released. otherwise the brakes would stick. it's normal, all power assisted brakes do it, some more vocally than others. if it's excessively loud, you could try to see if there's something restricting the flow of air back into the booster. it's got a small donut shapped sponge filter right where the pedal connects to the firewall, to keep contaminants out of the booster. if there were something partially blocking that filter, it "could" become more audible.
