Today I was able to get to the bottom of the latch through the bottom part of the bumper. I moved the golden/metallic latch over after lots of wd40 and a screw driver wedging it. The hood popped up a little but not even enough for me to get my fingers inside.

The hood is loose on the sides but something is still holding it in the middle.

I'll check under the driver's side fender tommorow or when it stops raining but I doubt anyone tried to break into my car where I live. It has been in the same spot for almost a year unlocked with a $500 cd player and 2 12inch subs with 1000 amp.

Finally got it. Turns out it was just the latch under the hood. It was too rusted and the lever/cable doesn't move it. Thanks for all the great help.
