Default A/c self install? am I nuts?

hi,
I have a 95 civic dx coupe, with really problematic (never worked well, and now hardly at all, after several repairs and recharges) aftermarket a/c. I've found a new oem kit for about 800$, would I be crazy to do that myself? I know mechanics generally charge about 1500+ for the whole job, is it really that much work? thanks

you just should get it charged by someone with the proper equipment, in my opinion. You cant leave moisture in the system, or you will burn out your compressor. Get it leak checked first after you complete the install also.
