I need help! I have a 99 civic si and im having a problem with my speedometor. My speed is off about 6 to 10 mph depending on the speed. Its not a wheelsize problem because the odometer is reading correct. Any one have any Ideas? I need to know if it is something that I can fix or need to replace?

If you put bigger wheels on car that normally wont throw your speedometer off that much. If you are sure that your speedo is off by 5mph, you should be able to take the gear out of the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) and go to dealer and tell them what your speedo is doing and they can get you a gear to compensate the difference. They will probably have to order it, I havent seen to many dealers keep them in stock. My car is a 97 but I believe your 99 has the same type VSS as mine.

I did put wheels on the car but it wouldnt make that much of a difference. If it was a gearing problem then the the odometer would be off too. But that part is fine, it just the speed. And its any where for 6 to 10mph off. Also i know its this far off cause i used a gps.

You trust a GPS system over your speedo? [sm=badidea.gif]

I put 205/40-17's on my 02' EX and the speedo was off 3 mph. I'm not sure of the stock tire size. 185/65-15's I think.
