ok... heres the deal... I JUST bought a used DX gauge cluster.. no tach of course.... and now im replacing my EXs speedometer with the DXs speedometer....
NOW the thing is the DX has a UPshift light along the upper right dummy light spots. now im curious if my EX cluster is WIRED for the UPSHIFT LIGHT? that way i could simply pop the bulb into that location and replace the outter bezel with the one that has the green UPSHIFT spot with the arrow aimed UP.....

i havent pulled out my cluster YET to see what the back looks like....




i just think that would be preaty cool to have alittle upshift light in the cluster..... tho im not sure WHEN that upshift light would come on...... i had a old 84 crx HF that had a upshift light that was preaty cool. i think it came on when you SHOULD have upshifted for beter gas milage. and IF this UPSHIFT light is for the same thing id like to have that hooked up.....

ive thought about buying one of those adjustable shiftlights cheapies you buy and just cut it apart for some custom wiring to my own bulb location for a clean instal and look... BUT if i can simply replace the bezel and put a bulb into the whole that would be GREAT!!!!!

anyone done anything like this before?

 

i put a 93 vx cluster with tach in my 92 dx hatch the vx had the upshift light but my dx didn't have the wiring

and get this the seller shiped this cluster to me in a WOMENS FLIMSY SHOE BOX!!!!!! NO PACKING AT ALL! just a few pieces of tape to hold the box LID on. AND SHIPED IT THE CHEAPEST WAY POSIBLE TOOK ALMOST 2WEEKS!
they the seller says WHY the nuetral feedback.... says im just a cry baby because i expect modest shiping and decent packing.LOL i told them the ONLY REASON they didnt get negative was because SOMEHOW the cluster wasnt busted into thousands of pieces.......NO IDEA HOW IT SURVIVED.....

ya no doubt.... ill take a picture of how it was packed tomorow.....
i mean the box it was shiped in was so flemsy i dont know how it didnt just colapse.... it HAD to have been on the TOP of every stack during shiping!!!!!!
then seller wants to say they spent 8bucks in gas to go ship it... im like WTF takes you 8bucks in gas to drive to your local post office... TOTAL BS.... 14bucks shiping charge... CLEARLY PRINTED ON PACKAGE under 8bucks...

but anyways... im wondering if its posible to hook this up with no wiring...... BUT if i have to i can simply buy one of those adjustable shift lights and just hide the unit remove its bulb and rewire the light wires to this upshift light bulb on the back of the gauges... its more money which sucks of course.... but its still posible. im hoping to do it cheap. just cause im all about cheap mods that add a personal touch to the car

i also want to do my custom flexstrip LED lighting to my EX cluster just like i did my 99ex cluster but this one in green. i already have the lights so i just have to pull it out and start cuting.

 

well I am pretty sure the body for the cluster is the same on the back. On the 6th gens you can swap every part from an EX to a DX cluster (I think so at least, lol). Hope that helps buddy

 

just a quick responce........ turns out the combo wont work
wiring is different
the control box around the cruise control for the ex is different then on the DX which i believe it just controls the upshift light around the tach......

so looks like if i want the shift light ill have to hardwire my own unit into the cluster if i chose to do it after all..... o well another future plan....
