Is it possible to get rid of that annoying catalytic converter location on the dx.. I need to replace one but they are too expensive and I was thinking of buying one off ebay a full exhaust system and I was wondering if its possible to install? o by the way its --->(california emmisions)

I know the EX, lx have them on the bottom.. why not the dx?

The DX and LX exhaust has that stupid manifold/cat combo. It's possible to convert to the EX exhaust.

Rockauto.com has the manifold/converter for $195, just in case you don't want to spend $150 on a Megan Racing manifold, $120 on a converter, and whatever else on a cat-back exhaust kit.

Also, those are non-CARB certified parts. Stupid California requires parts to be stamped as being CARB compliant even if they at the good for 49 other states. They do sell CARB certified manifold/converters on Rockauto.com for more $.

If you want to convert it you need an EX manifold or header, an EX catalytic converter, and an exhaust system because your old one will be too long to fit. They could cut and weld it I suppose. Click that link from the first reply.

The link from the first reply does explain it well. Install an EX header, (or stock EX manifold and front pipe) and an EX converter. Then you can either shorten the center pipe and keep the rest of your DX system, or continue replacing all the way to the back with EX parts.
