Default car "wont" start

i was in the rain, i pulled in a gas station to use the atm and when i came out, it was off. my friend informed me that the car shut off while i was gone. it cranks but it wont turn over. even tried to get a jump, and it still didnt start (mind u, all this time, it was raining). battery is fine, and i just got a new alterator. i was thinking, the 2 things it could be was 1: spark plug wires or 2:distributor cap. if it could be anything else please let me know.

dizzy=distributor. sorry. but check them one at a time or you might forget how they go. just pull one wire off of the plug and stick a screwdriver in it and hold the SD close to a ground and have someone crank the engine, if it doesnt fire its the distributor. and BTW, if you can sucker your friend into holding the SD, then do it, cause you might get shocked, enough to scare the hell out of you, but not enough to do any damage. (unless you happen to have a pacemaker )
