Default Car is loosing power

I have a 97 civic (duh). Recently it has started sputtering and making this weird noise like it is bacj firing, it has also lost this considerable amount of performance. i can't accelerate as i once could. I have an appointment this wed at a shop to see what is wrong with it. They said over the phone that i sounds like i have some saturated spark plugs. i was wondering if anyone else has had thais problem. if you have or know how to fix it. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!

ya could also throw in some seafoam cleaner.... that stuff usualy helps alot. but as well buy all your tune up stuff. and if ya still have the problem then id take it to a shop.....

why pay for something you know you can do yourself...
and if its not the problem O WELL you can never hurt the car with a tune up.LOL

Hey, I have a 99' Sedan LX, Sounds like the same problem Im having. Is the sputtering a light almost metallic noise, and when it goes away its seem like the power came back a bit? This is what mine is doing and it seems to do it more when going up hills.

Let me know.

p.s. I havnt had any mods, and I just recently put in new plugs, air filter, oil change pads. and one more question are you using sythetic oil?

well i took my car to the shop and they said that it was my plug wires that was messing with my car. Long story short is that they want me to pay them $100 for them to change them. I was talking to my friend (mr deux) and he said that it was a rip off since they plug wires them selves didn't cost the much. He suggested that i just by some of them and put them in my self. I was wondering if you guys could help me something, what is the best brand to try to get? I also need some instructions switching them in and out.

if you want to get perty, colored ones go with apc. i just went with regular ones from Honda. just do one at a time to assure you dont mix the wires up.

I'd go with the seafoam to clean all that gunk and junk out, get a tune, and um...run high octane once in a while (even use some fuel additive) to burn off any excess carbon and junk! My $0.02!!!
