Default Loosing power pt. 2 please help.

back again, i dont want to spend the cash and not fix the problem. The Acura Integra Ls ( 1997 )
We have narrowed it down, its not the transmission. something is going wrong with the motor. Heres the issue.
I put it in gear, give it gas, the Rpm's go up but little power. it creeps through first, all the way up to 5th.. just creeps along. the RPM's will go up but still no power. thats the best discription i can give it. 1st, creeps through the gear, 2nd, same, 3rd, same. Again, its not the transmission, we have narrowed it down to the motor.
1. if the valves were bad, could it do this?
2. if timing was off by a tooth, could it be robbing this much power?
3. If i replace the head, will it fix this problem?

it could be the timing. id try adjusting it tho be sure to make a clear MARK where the distrubuter is before ya mess with it... just incase it runs worse you can put it back to where it was...
just bump it up or down and try it... if it makes a BAD NOISE turn it back ASAP and dont go ALOT at once... just bump it alittle.

worth a shot if you think its in the motor.....

I'd also run a compression test if you haven't done so already. Although if the rings were that bad to cause the symptoms you describe I'd expect a fair amount of smoke coming out the exhaust.

do a compression and more importantly a leakdown test. Is it smoking or making any noise?
