Car Starting Issues
So I know I had this problem before and fixed it, but this morning I had another problem starting my 98 Civic DX. Turned the key and nothing happened. I still had interior lights and the beeping going off telling me my door was open with the key still in. Soon after I lost all power, so I figured one of my battery terminals was loose. Went and checked, still no power. So I tried to jump my car using my dad's, still nothing happened. Then my dad said he saw a spark as I tried to turn the key, and the car started. Turned it off, checked everything, tried again and it started. Drove fine. Anyone with any ideas? I concluded that the spark was from the jumper cables hitting my body or a bad connection with the terminal but not sure. The battery definately was not dead, otherwise it would not have started the car again soon after I turned it off.
It could be that your alternator no longer is functioning. If you can get the car to an Autozone, they can possibly test it for you. That's all that I can think of that would do that. As far as the problem with jumping the car, the grounding on the chassis proves to be a hard tasks from time to time. A actually have a metal brush that I use the scrape paint off of a hidden area the get the best ground.
