I have a 1994 Civic LX.

When I go for drive and stop the car I have to wait 30min for it to start again. This use to happen about 1-2 times a month and getting worse. I notice that it seems to startup only when the engine is cold.. Now that it is summer it seems to only start in the morning or evening. Unable to start it in the hot afternoons after it has been sitting overnight. I would wait till sunset then it starts. I changed the spartk plugs, cables, fuel filter, caps & rotor and fuel filter. Still same issue. Car never fails to start in the morning or at night. I am able to drive the car at night and do errons and able to start the car again with no prorblems. Just the afternoon...hot weather will not restart. or start.

 

These are classic symptoms of a flakey main relay. It is inside the car under the dash so it gets worse when the temperature inside the car is higher.

 

definatly main relay had the exact same problem in my 94 lx dont cost much to get replaced under a 100 bucks and mine worked perfect after it was replaced

Can you tell me where the relay is exactly. Passenger side dash or drivers side? Is it in te fuse box area under driver side dash. I purchased a manual on Ebay so It may take 5-days for that manual to arrive.

 

im pretty sure its under the passenger side dash its just a big fuse like thing should b pretty easy to diy

 

Driver's side. On the side panel, directly above the hood release lever. May be easier to reach if you take the hood release lever loose first.
