Default CEL Flashed while Driving

So On my way home form work today on the highway the car started to feel a little rough. The road was covered in snow and I was on the brake at the time so I wasnt sure If i was just feeling the ABS but the car kinda shook the same way. The CEL falshed a few times @ me (not sure the nubmer was watching the road) id guess maybe 5 or 6 times? @ That point the acceleration felt a little dull as well but agian, with the snow I could have just been trying to get some traction. Anyways after flashing it seemed fine until about 5 minutes later same thing (same situation too, braking.. snow) and the CEL flashed again. After stopping for about 45 minutes I continued on my way home and everything seemed fine, no lights no issues.

Any ideas? It was definetly not the ABS light coming on, it was the CEL, but it only flashed and never stayed on. It wouldnt have been thowing a code @ me then would it? Im pretty sure I'd have to try the jumper method to get a code at all?

Almost forgot, I bought a replacement gas cap today from Partsource but i had been driving for atleast 50km before I had my first CEL. Could it just have been something in the fuel tank since the cap had been off (probably about 10-12 hours of having no cap on it)

Thanks and sorry for the long post, trying to include what I can.

Default RE: CEL Flashed while Driving

If the ECU detects random misfiring strong enough to damage the catalytic converter, then the CEL will blink. Pull the CEL code, and my guess is that it will be P0300.

There are many causes for this problem, but start by checking whether you plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor need to be replaced.
