Default Changing the headlight bulb

Hey guys!

I have a 96 Civic EX Coupe. I just bought a headlight bulb from Autozone but do not know how to change it.

Can somebody please explain to me how I can change it? I know that there is this rubber piece around the ballast. I tried to take it off first but I couldn't. Didn't want to force it either because I don't want to break it. I also tried to just pull the ballast out, but just like the rubber piece, I didn't want to break it either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

don't tell me you're doing the left side...if you are it's a royal PITA with the power steering reservouir sitting right there.

anyhow here:

pull the rubber thingy back so you can see the end of the bulb. Push the metal "paper clip" retainer down and lift it up...swing it out of the way and take the bulb out. Take the connector off. Installation is the reverse.

Thanks a lot Roto! And lucky for me it's the passenger side.

Btw, where is the clip? I don't think I saw any paper clip thing when I pulled the rubber back. Maybe it's also because I didn't know to look for it.

Anyhow, thanks a bunch. I will go home tonight and look for it and hopefully I can replace it quickly. It sounds simple enough.

The rubber piece does not have to be removed before the spring clip is moved if I remember correctly. Take a good look at the clip before trying to move it, once you see how it works it is really quite easy and you will appreciate the design. Also, on the left side, the power steering reservoir simply lifts up out of the way to allow for headlight replacement. It is mounted to a slide bracket. Hope this helps.
