Changing headlight bulbs
Ok so i bought some new headlight bulbs online, right. so i figured it was going to be a 15 min job. so istarted on it last night about 20 mins b4 i went to work. needless to say i wound up taking my dads jeep wrangler to work last night b/c i had half my front end taken apart(exaggeration)., and i finished it after i got off of work last night. anywhoe lemme run you through what i had to go through.
when i looked at it i figure di had to take out the entire assembly, but i knew if i did that i had to take off the bumper cover. so i didnt want to do that. so i decided to do it an easier way. on the passenger side of the caar i had to remove my cone filter from my intake. and then do that one. the drivers side, however, was alittle trickier. i had to take my power steering resevoir out of place, and move my washer resevoir further to the side to even get to that headlight. and then when i got to it. i had to remove a harness and a rubber seal. under that were two screws holding a meatl spring in place. i had to carefully remove the screws so as to not send the springs flying into the engine bay. and then i removed the bulb and inserted the new bulb into place. after i fi this i had to screw the tiny little plate holding the spring on one side back into place hoping the whole time that i would not spring this plate into the engine bay. and i had to screw the other side of it back on. and then i placed the harness and everything back.where it goes and went to bed. FOR that much work. these damn headlights better not ever blow out again. cause i sure as hell ain't gonna replace em. i'll tell the cop if he wants me to b able to see both sides of the road then he can replace my damn bulb for christs sake.
byt the Way i bought 8500K HID equivalent bulbs from eurodezigns. they sure as hell are brighter than my stock bulbs that were in there.

You should not have to unscrew anything. Once you got your intake tube or p/s canister out of the way you were almost finished. Unplug the connector from the headlight and gently remove the rubber cover (they tear real easy). The metal spring wire you saw has one end that has a small little loop in it. Grab that between your thumb and finger and kind of push in toward the front of the car and pull up. The wire will hinge out of the way leaving you free access to the bulbs. You didn't need to take those screws out at all if you have factory headlights.

I have a 97 Civic which is probably the same setup as yours. I changed my headlight bulb two days ago. All I had to do was remove the rubber boot from the back of the bulb, remove the plug, unhook the wire retainer, pull out the bulb and put everything back on. 5 minute job.
ORIGINAL: 97 Black Civic
