Default check engine light

hey i was wonder if my check engine light is suposed to come on when i start the car then turn off after like a sec or two . some ppl told me it should turn on then turn right off but mines doesnt go on at all. just wanted to see what you guys think

It should come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on, but not all the way to activate the starter. If you do turn the key all the way to start right away, it may not come on.

yeah it doesnt come on at all well this sucks haha is that a bad thing?

Likely someone has taken the bulb out rather than fix the problem. It happens a lot with used cars. But often when there's a problem that turns the CEL on, the gas mileage will suffer.

yeah thats pretty weird but right now im gettin normal gas mileage bout 30 per gallon. thx for the help ill look into it
