Civic Does Not Pick Up Fast Enough.
Hello All, I Have A 2000 Honda Civic Ex.. Ive Noticed Lately That When Driving At Speeds About 40Mph+ The Car Does Not Pick Up WIth Slight Pressure On The Accelerator. I Would Have To Step On It With More Pressure For It To Pick Up, I Dont Know If Its Normal Or If The Car Is Short On Something, Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated, Thanks.

There are many possibilities. You might want to start by checking whether the air filter is clogged, the throttle cable needs adjusting, or the throttle body needs cleaning.

Air filter is easy enough.
If it's stock, just take the top part of the air box case off, pull the filter out, and check it. Also check to see if there is a clear passage way for the air to come in and go to the engine.

Access the throttle body by removing the air cleaner unit (see 96-00 Civic manual). Clean throttle body, including hinges and plate, with carburetor cleaner.
Throttle cable adjustment is also straightforward (see 96-00 Civic manual).
