Civic ignition

Civic ignition
Hi all. I have a 93 Civic that died going down the road. I know it did not jump timeand the fuel pressure is ok.
I have no spark to the plugs. All fuses check out ok.
Is there a way to test the components in the distribitor like the coil?
I have a tester but not sure what to check.
Also is there a way the home mechanic can get troublecodes from the car?
Thanks for any help with this.

RE: Civic ignition
i dont think there's a way to check the coil. call some auto part stores. i know autozone checks them for other cars but you'd have to call to see if they do. i also had the same problem w/ no spark. most likeley it is the coil, but try getting the cap and rotor first to see if it's not that.

RE: Civic ignition
Thanks. I will give that a try. It was late last night so everything was closed so I will give them a call.
Contacts on the distributor were a little rough and someone must have over tightened the screws because the distributor was cracked at all screw mounting holes so I am going to get a new one with a new rotor.
Appreciate it.

RE: Civic ignition
Just to update the problem. I carried the coil to AutoZone and he put the ohm meter on it and the primary checked out fine and the secondary was just under the required reading but I took a chance and $71.06 USD later the little red Civic is rolling again.
Thanks for the help and I will be hanging out here just to get any help and advice I can.
