Question Civic transmission gear ratio swap

Hello,

I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX with a 5sp manual transmission. The car has 279,xxx miles on it and is in need of a new clutch. I'm planning on changing the clutch myself, and while I have the tranny out of the car and ripped apart, I would like to do some other transmission work.

My goal is to get better gas mileage. Now, what I would like to do, is change my gear ratios from the current EX model to the gear ratios in an HX transmission.

Now my questions...

Is it possible to put the gear ratios from an HX tranny into an EX tranny?
If they do fit, is it worth it to completely rebuild my tranny, or should I just swap in a HX transmission?
If I decide to rebuild my tranny with HX parts, where can I find such a rebuild kit with the correct gear ratios?
If I just decide to swap in a HX transmission, where is a good place to find one?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from everyone.
