Default Civic VX Won't Start/ Green Machine Resurrection

Hello Everyone:
For over the past year, I had my 1994 Honda Civic Vx sitting in the backyard. For the duration of that time, my fuel needle was past empty and prior to having it parked, I was already aware that it was going need several new parts. The fuel pump was bad, the distributor was leaking oil like a siv and it was about due for a comple tune-up.

Over this past weekend, I'd replaced the spark plugs, and wires, in addition to installing a new distributor, which course came with a new cap and rotor. What followed next, was a new fuel pump, along with 5 gallons of fresh gasoline in the tank. As a side note, while installing the fuel pump, I had flashed a light into the fuel tank, while noting no apparent rust or sediment at the bottom.

In spite of everything mentioned, the car still won't turn over and I'm running out of ideas. I've even went so far as to double-check the spark plug order on my distributor cap and clean off the corrosion from my ground wires.

The last thing that I'd attempted was checking the ignition relay under the hood; but that seems to be intact also. What's might I be overlooking?

Won't turn over or won't fire? Everything you've described would have nothing to do with it not turning the starter.

si
I had been meaning to mention that the starter is less than 2 years old, so I would have to agree with you there. To answer the question, the engine will not fire.

Start with the basics. Are you getting fuel to the cylinders? Crank it, than pull plugs. Are they wet? If yes - your injectors are pulsing, so proceed to timing. Make sure your firing order is correct. Make sure you actually have spark.

Just as you've suggested, I've double checked the firing order on the distributor and tried cranking the engine over today, followed by pulling the plugs; however, they appear to be dry. One other thing that I'm noticing, is that I'm not hearing any activation noises coming from the newly installed a fuel pump (i.e. no buzzes or noises) from the back. Additionally, there are no clicks coming from the fuel pump relay a moment after I have turned the key to be ignition. Do you think that it may be the fuel pump relay that's causing me this issue?

could be the relay, or you could have blown a fuse while working on it. Another option would be a bad fuel pump. Chinese parts these days are common and very crappy. Grab a multimeter and go to town

What I can say with absolute certainty, is that the ignition fuse under the hood is still intact. Would there be a buzz fuse underneath the dash that should be checked?

forget ignition for now - chase power to the fuel pump from battery down to pump. If you're not getting fuel you're certainly not needing ignition yet.

Unbelievable! Getting right to the point, it appears that I'm going to have to re-solder wires back together at the harness.

Earlier this evening, when I went to disconnect the fuel pump relay, I encountered two black wires which appeared to have been haphazardly spliced together, separated from one another.
My guess is that at some point, a kill switch was installed by the previous owner.

At any rate, I'm reasonably certain as to why my fuel pump won't activate. Got any recommendations as to what gauge wire I should use?
