Default clearing check engine light

The car reached 30K and the check engine light came on and now stays on. What needs to be done to clear the service code? Can I just go to AutoZone and get them to clear the code or is there a secret "press the gas pedal twice turn the car on and turn it off and then it's cleared?" I really don't want to disconnect the battery if I don't have to. I've heard that clears the fuel map memory. Any suggestions? Thanks

if less than 36k miles and 3 years car is still unde warranty,, take it to the dealer to find out the code and or a possible problem
and by the way you do not just want to clear it ,, you got to read it and diagnose why it came on in the first place

With the car off. Hold in the reset button for odometer. While holding the button, turn car on, and wait about 20 seconds. light will clear.
Hope this helps

I think thats the method for clearing the Maintanance Required light. The only ways i know to clear a check engine light is to disconnect the battery, remove the ECU fuse, and to clear it with a scanner. However, i will agree that you should fix whatever is broken. The first thing you should do is clear the code and see if it comes back, if it comes back then find out what is wrong.
