Default clutch cable broken?

This is my first manual cat so I'm not very sure about clutches and there components, but I've owned motorcycles for a while.

I was trying to shift while driving my civic and I pressed the clutch pedal down and tried to shift. It wouldn't go into gear so I let go of the pedal, to try again, and the pedal wouldn't come back up. I could pull it up with my hand, but it wouldn't do it on its own.

Is it the clutch cable?

The 2002 has a hydraulic activated clutch (works like the brakes), it is probably out of fluid due to a leak.

Yep, looked at it and its empty, thank you so much. I started it in 2nd(to be able to go speed limit) and drove it to walmart.

I put some fluid in but nothing happened. The fluid didn't go down or anything, even after I pumped the pedal like 100 times. Any help would be appreciated.

Now you have to get the air out of the system. Open the bleeder bolt on the slave cylinder (mounted on the transmission). Have someone push the clutch pedal down. While they're holding it down, close the bleeder. With the bleeder closed, let go of the pedal (pull it up by hand if necessary). Repeat this process several times, being sure not to let the reservoir run dry. Then leave the bleeder closed and check for normal clutch action.

You can drive the car now but of course it's going to leak out again. So find the leak and replace the leaky part(s). It is usually either the master cylinder (leaks on the inside of the car and runs down the firewall) or the slave cylinder. After opening the system it is necessary to bleed again.
