Default Clutch Noise

Hi All,

I have a year 2000 Civic 3dr Hatch, with only 23K on the clock. Couple of days ago, when traveling to work, I pressed the clutch down, and it makes a squeeking noise. On the way back from work, it didn't make any noise. The following day it started making the noise again, whenever I press the clutch down (even when the engine is switched off).

I have checked the other posts on the site, from which it looks like it may be the throw out bearing? But my concern is, the car has genuinely only done 23K and hasn't been driven hard by the previous owner. I have only owned the car for 5 months, and have only throttled it to 6000rpm a couple of times. Is it possible for the throw out bearing to start making a noise so soon?

I can shift gears with noproblem, so the clutch seems fine? Anyone offer any advice on what it could be? If I carry on driving with the noise (only makes noise when i depress the clutch), will it damage the clutch?

Default RE: Clutch Noise

Here is what I think. You say it makes the squeak (or whatever) even when the car is turned OFF. It's definitely not a bearing. Bearing don't move when the engine is off. Ok the clutch release bearing does move but it's doesn't turn. I'd be very suprised that it would be your problem. I say, pop the hood open, have a friend, or your sister, step on the clutch and try to locate the noise. Maybe it could be your clutch cable? Definitely not a bearing.
