Default code 17

My ECU throws code 17 often and it does not affect performance as far as I can tell. I think 17 is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). My speedomoter, tachomoter, and odometor are all on hooked. Is that why I'm throwing the code? How do you hook those up? I have never done It but I'm sure it can't be that hard.

Default RE: code 17

Code 17 - VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

88-98 Civic
97-98 CRV
88-98 Prelude
94+ Integra

It depends where they are un-plugged at. at the engine or at your instrument cluster. Your odometer works off the speedometer. Not for sure about the tach. You should be able to get a flashlight and get down in the floorboard and look behind your instrument cluster and see if everything is plugged into it. If all is plugged in then look under the hood.
