I was wondering if I could drop an engine from a 2001 civic into a 1997 civic. The engine in the 97' is a 1.6L SOHC 16 valve, but not sure about the 01'. Both cars are automatic trans. I can find out the engine type in the 01' if I have to, was just wondering if any of the 01' engines are compatible with the 97'. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!!

 

I think the 2001 engine is redesigned, so don't believe it will fit.

 

Yeah, that's what I thought. I have a junked 01' so was hoping I could use it. Have to find something else I guess. Thanks for the help!!
