OK...so I have not delved into the import car series until now. I am used to old hot rods, Harleys, and 70's and 80's CB's and what not, but I recently aquired a 1999 Honda Civic SI with the B16A2 1.6L USDM DOHC VTEC 99-00 160hp for free...yes free. The poor sap who I got it from ran it with about half a quart of oil and scorched the camshafts and the head. The short block is still good, but I will have to replace the top end. Now I do know my way around cars for the most part but not sure what type of set up for basics. I have looked at the skunk2 stage 2 pro series cams and also the comp cams, but the cost for the replacement b16 head is just retarded. I have found a b18 (I think that's what the guy said) that needs a valve job and I could get it for 150 bucks. If I am not mistaken though I will have to get a new intake, distributor, and of course cams for the different cylinder head. If anyone has some more input on the rebuilding of the B16A2 engine or the Frankenstein B16 block/B18 head set up write somethin'. Thanx for any input...and no hurry, the free car is just sitting in my garage...G

If you don't already have it, start by downloading the 96-00 Civic service manual at the Manuals link in my signature. It has just about everything you will need to know about your new free car.

mine is an EM1 but I didn't see it listed on your link, or maybe I'm just overlooking it?

The Si is integrated with other models into the comprehensive 96-00 Civic service manual. For example, the B16 has a separate section in the Cylinder head/Valve train chapter in the Engine section. Also note the extremely detailed Electrical chapter at the end of the manual. It's all there.
