Default D16 vs B16 engines

I'm working on a 99 Civic Si build that currently has a D16 SOHC engine - before you tell me I'm wrong, in Canada this engine was an option in the Si. I'd much rather have a B16 DOHC engine and was wondering if the two engines use the same block. If they do, I don't need to worry about finding a donor car to do an engine swap, I can just build up the motor I've got and replace the top end.

Any comments or anything I'm overlooking?

Thanks, guys....

only d series to ever run dohc was the d16a1 was in the 87 integra. i no for a fact the canadian em1's were only stock with y8's ppl with dohc vtec look down on sohc vtec's but its sad. the sohc n dohc omost produce the same amount of torque. it cost money to build a bottom end up but there are many bolt ones u can do the top end n it will exceed a stock dohc forsure.

to be able to put a dohc into you civic you will need alot more than just a b16 motor, you will also need shift linkages, mounts, trans, ecu, exhaust mani, intake mani, and some extra wire to wire vtec up.

as mentioned above you can find a older model integra and get the zc dohc head and put it onto your sohc block its the only dohc head that will fit on a sohc block.

Thanks for the advice guys. My original plan - if I could have just swapped the top end - was to build my d16 motor into a b16, then build from there. What I'm looking at is a strong street car that I'll also be using for some days at the drag strip. That being said, I doubt my d16 is going to give me the hp or torque I'm going to want, even with a turbo or spray.

I'm looking into swapping in a 1.8 vtec out of an Integra or a 2.4 vtec from an Accord, but I realize those are going to be a lot more work. If anyone has or knows someone whose done one of these swaps and can give me some "do's and don'ts" that would be appreciated

Thanks again, guys
