I am doing a mini me head swap on my 98 honda civic dx. I was just wondering if i could use the distributer from my original engine y7on the y8 head.

I'm pretty sure they are the same. At least the service manual does not differentiate between the 2. Timing is the same also. 12 degrees +- 2 degrees BTDC during idling/neutral.

there is not diference... you can use your distribuitor since you are using your same harnes..unless you planing to use a obd0 instead yours...

i'm using the y7 dist. on my y8 right now the car runs so it will work
but there are other issues to follow with the ecu if you plan on using the vtec
i'm trying to figure it out right now
