D17a2 swap to d17a1 not going past 4000 rpms??
Can someone help I just swapped an 03 civic ex d17a2 manual to a d17a1 motor and it won’t go past 4000 rpm I’ve read that it’s cause of the vtec but can I just buy a non vtec ecu and plug it in get the key flashed and get rid of the problem??
that sounds like a feasible solution. if your current ecu is trying to advance into vtech and its just not present it might be holding you back. on an 03 i dont think the key thing will be an issue. i dont think the keys were ecu programmed until later i think it should be a plug and play.
Did you get any further with this swap? This is the exact same swap that I’m looking to do. Trying to figure out what it’s going to take to complete it correctly. I also hear the exhaust is different?
