Default dash question

I have a kinda embarrassing question....For as long as I had this civic (bought used in 2003) there has been a dead cockroach sliding around inside the dash. I figured it would eventually decompose and turn to dust. Well 5 years later and its still there completely intact.
Is there an easy way to open up the dash to get that damn thing out??

How do you know the roach is still there? If you can see it, knock it loose or vacuum it up.

I'm guessing it is in the instrument cluster behind the plastic window. This is not too hard to remedy. Remove the cluster from the car and open it up, clean out the inside. Not sure about a 2003 but on older models you don't have to take a lot of other stuff apart to get the cluster out.

That makes sense. But how does a roach get in there? I thought the cluster was well sealed?

ya where is the thing sliding around in? the cluster or in the dash like around the vin badge or something?

if around the top just a vacume or a air compressor to blow the sucker away..

if inside the cluster than ya gotta take the cluster out and open it up. very easy really.... afew screws holding the cluster and wire harness on the cluster and then just afew plastic clips around the cluster and the clear bezel will come right off the front and just flop the sucker out. and snap it back together.LOL

similar yes but removing the cover is more of a PITA

remove the 2 screws above/infront of the cluster, pop the hazard switch out from the dash with a tiny screw driver and unplug it. now close the outter left vent( if you dont close it it could catch on the rear vent when pulling it off, now proceed to pull off the whole front panel. and YES IT WILL BE VERY TIGHT around the middle of the dash! those clips are tight!!!!!
now with that front panel pulled off then 2 philips screws on both sides of the cluster and just pull it out and unplug the wires. and pull it out completly.
then just pop the side clips in alittle and pull the front bezel off.

knock that sucker out and put everything back.

and YES bugs can get in there pretty easily really on the EG civics since the black trim cover is spaced of the face of the gauges and the bug can just crawl thru the back empty wire plug areas or even the automatic led holes and then he is free to climb around the whole thing he probably just crawled in there and the heat during the day fried his @ss.LOL

The diagrams I posted above are for a 5th generation (92-95) Civic. They may complement Addictions instructions.
