Distributor cap screw snapped off
Was going to give my 95 civic a tune up and started with the best looking screw and that snapped off stupid aluminum housing. My question is does anybody know the tap size so I can drill and retap the holes so I can get my cap changed Thank you
You're referring to one of the three screws that hold the distributor cap to the distributor, correct?
In my experience of drilling out a bolt, if you are careful and use a drill bit smaller than the bolt, once you drill all the way into it right down the center of the bolt, it will be so weak from missing its core that the outside of the screw will be much more malleable and you could remove the remaining part of the screw with some needle nose pliers. This would keep you from damaging the threads on the hole and having to re tap the holes.
Also, when it snapped off did it snap off all the way in the metal? You may be able to remove the remaining cap screws and then remove the cap to find some of the snapped screw exposed enough to get a grip on with some vise-grips.

Yes it is one of the 3 screws that hold the cap on. I started with the best looking screw and that snapped off the others are really rusted. I wonder how long if at all its been off. I snapped the top one off and just quit I need the car to get to work and back so I will have to plan a good day where I can take teh other 2 off which I am guessing they will snap off to. So I am planning on taking the dist off to drill and tap or just bolt the cap off.
