distributor, rotor, icm, coil
Hello- New honda civic owner here. 1997 honda civic cx. I bought the car recently and had the timing belt replaced at the shop but decided to give it a tune up myself. New cap, plugs, wires. Had the coil tested it was ok but the icm was faulty so I replaced that. Put er all back together and no spark, no fire, no go. After reading some of these posts I'm thinking its a computer problem. Right or wrong? Do I have to reset something somwhere? thanks for any info.
This is a pretty basic system. Looks for 12 volt battery power through the ignition switch (possible problem here) to the ICM. Easiest thing would be to check for voltage at the ICM (blue/yellow wire). No voltage bad ignition sw or underhood fuse, 1 80amp or 1 50amp. Also the ICM is looking for a logic signal from the ECM to allow start. You can try a ECM reset by either pulling fuse for 15-20seconds or pulling the battery leads. If voltage out of ICM is good then it could be a bad coil or cap or distributor. Good luck and let me know how you make out.
