Default distributor rotor bolt stripped

I attempted to remove the bolt holding the distributor rotor but it was on so tight, the Philips head screw got stripped. I tried to drill it out. I have a screw extractor but I didn't around to drilling deep enough. I've changed rotors before but never encountered a mega tight screw. It's my first time changing it in my current car.
This happen to anyone else?
