Default door and stereo removal

You guys were so helpful on my tuneup, thought i'd look for help on my other two projects - 97 civic LX 4door - the lt rear door was hit lightly and the outside door latch no longer works. The inside latch works. Popped the holders and two screws on door grip to get the door panel off, but can't get the panel off the inside door latch. Any ideas? The car has auto windows and door locks.

Next - for you stereo guys - car has a sony explode head unit, with the door that opens down to put in the cd. The head unit doesn't work, so i'm pulling it out. I don't see any place to slide in those little metal catch releases that I've used to pull other head units. Any ideas on how to remove the stereo? The sony is probably 5-7 years old.

Thanks!

Remove one screw and then slide inner handle to the right to release:

Got it. Thanks. How does the door latch connect to the door release? Do you have a cool picture of that? I see a catch on the door latch, and a catch on the release, but there's a part missing - may just be a rod of some sort.

Any ideas on the stereo?

Thx

Not sure what you are asking about the stereo.

Here's the latch picture:

to take the radio out you have to remove like 10 bolts from underneath. Remove the plastic panel directly underneath the head unit(piece with cigarette lighter), remove a bolt or two on the left panel, take out glove box and remove a screw or two on the right side.

When I say left and right side, I'm referring to the location of the bolts from the middle panel(cigarette lighter) you removed.

Now you may have to lay back your passenger seat and look up into it to see the the remaining bolts attached to the headunit mounts. It's fairly simple to see and understand when you go and try after taking out the center panel.

Once you have the mounts unbolted just pop the entire headunit out(everything should come out in one piece, change holder, a/c vents and dials, radio.)

It's a very simple process. The radio itself may be bolted into the unit and there may be small metal tabs lifted so it can't slide out, use something like a flathead to even them out so you can remove the radio from the unit you pulled out.

Thanks for all the help. I got the door panel off and found what's broken - gotta get to pic n pull and get a new part.

Re: Stereo, since it's an aftermarket stereo, I knew I didn't have to pull out the dash to remove the stereo. After some poking around I found that I could remove the faceplate, remove the trim piece, and push a tab on each end of the stereo. This let the stereo slide right out! Popped in a new stereo and I'm good to go.

Now just gotta get the door latch peice and the door panel back on.
