Hey guys,

I've had a problem with unlocking/locking the driver door on my 2003 Honda Civic LX (4 door, automatic). Basically when I try to unlock/lock it with the key it takes a number of tries to fit in properly and be able to turn it to unlock/lock it. The passenger side door and trunk unlock/lock easily however.

Another (related I believe) problem that I've had is the keyless entry remote has been working only sporadically to unlock/lock the driver side door. I usually have to press the unlock or lock button a number of times before it finally works, and sometimes it doesn't seem to work at all. Other times I get lucky and it works on the first try.

Lately to unlock/lock the driver side door I basically try to use the keyless entry a few times to see if it's working, otherwise I unlock the passenger side door and reach over to unlock the driver side door manually.

What do you guys think is the problem here? Is it the power lock actuator in the driver side door? Is this an expensive fix? Are both these problems related or are they separate issues?

That kind of stuff happens when the linkage gets messed up by someone trying to break into the car.

 

So do you think fixing/replacing the linkage on the driver's door would fix both issues? I'm glad whoever tried to break in couldn't!

This should not cost too much to fix should it?
