How do you know when you saw deep enough? I don't want to cut the button thing off. I've been wanting to get one of those for a bit but didn't know to cut it.

ya how much did ya chop off or where was the hardest mounting point?

i want to swap my Ebrake and shifter handles!

BUT with me.... i think id rather remove the Ebrake assembly.LOL
look slike it would be so much easier and not cramped! just pull the console and the 2cables or remove the adjuster bolt and it should just come right out......

First I would make sureif your car's ebrake can be unscrewed off, or if it's molded to the metal....I think earlier civic models u don't need to cut it out. You can tell if your deep enough by starting to see metal and if it starts getting tougher to cut/hack.

The way Igot it off was kind of an odd way, most people would say to do it from front to back cutting along the top line where it's molded. Then prying it off. I did it piece by pice shaveing off chunks till i could yank it off.

If you look at the earlier pic of my old e-brake handle, the button is only at the very tip, and then it's a small rod that goes into the metal part. You'll have to cut pretty deep to sever that. It's a little tedious but if you got some time on your hands and you take it slow, and carefullyyou should be alright.

I chopped off quite a bit befor it would give enough to come off the metal frame. Cutting the metal notch off the bottom was hard, because of the angle and trying not to bang, cut, or bash, other interior components

That might work but, wouldn't the handlestill be molded to the frame of the e-brake? It would probably be easier to take it all out, take the handleand saw it off clamped to atable or something. If you know how to do that sort of thing(I always worry about breaking off little plastic pieces that you need later to re-install correctly later). LOL as you can tell.
