Emergency brake handle?

I bought a new emergency brake handle to put on my 2000 civic ex. But, I don't know how to get the stock one off.Anyone know?

there was a big thread about this a wile ago, you can search it...but its pretty much, the only way to take it off is pull and twist (which i find impossible) or cut the plastic off, which i think is the easyist way
